Our Story

How it all started...

In 1850, recent immigrants to the city of Cedar Hill gathered in a field near Ten Mile Creek to worship. That group would become what is known as First Baptist Cedar Hill. They would thrive through difficult circumstances - an Indian raid that burned down their original building, a lightning strike that would burn down their second building, and a devastating tornado that swept through the town.

The church that began long ago realized their blessed opportunity to reach a growing town with the truth of God. They endured and continue to minister to that city today.

A Renewed Story...

In 2020, First Baptist Cedar Hill set out on a path toward revitalization. In a growing city, the church was decreasing. The church reclaimed their commission to make disciples and the command to love others. They began to actively minister to the needs of the city and one another. Since that time, the church has celebrated over 40 baptisms, added people of all ages and backgrounds, and engaged the city in meaningful ways.

Where we are headed...

Jesus provided us both a mission and a vision for his church, and we want to walk in obedience of those. We are committed to being a disciple-making church. By 2030, we want to see 104 people committed to intentionally investing in the lives of others, helping people know and follow Jesus. We are committed to equipping and encouraging people to actively share the good news of Jesus with the lost.  We are committed to prayerfully surrendering all we do to the will of God.
